…2020 seemed quite along way off, but hell it fitted nicely with our rather relaxed attitudes towards life.
Now I had a dream sitting on the shelf waiting to be dusted off.
A few months of happily plodding along with my life, then situations changed. I wasn’t sacked or made redundant (as so many around me were) but we decided that my role in Beautiful World Tents would be shrunk allowing my wife Natalie to run the business without my day to day interference or judgement - A better situation all round.
After unsuccesfully trying to start a business that was great in principle but in practise was too close and had too many overlaps with Beautiful World Tents, I rembered the dream, my idea for a happy business doing the things i love, the dream needed dusting off and turning in to reality.
My friend (and fellow dreamer) Matt, having done the very honourable thing of following his ex and Mia (his daughter) to be able to spend time with her as she grew from tot, to child, to girl, to woman, was now in Germany, unable to join me on what was once a joint venture.
It was my dream, not his, I want and need this to work, so I will have to persevere work harder and make it happen. I know i can make it happen as ive done it once before with beautiful world tents, still I had many questions this is a totally different business. Where do I start? what skills do I need to do this? who do I know that can help? Who’s doing it already? How can I get the info and knowledge I need? Can I really make money doing this?
I mustn’t forget I will get to climb trees again and create amazing spaces for people, it has to be a great way to make a living, I must make it a success, hell, I will make it a success…
